New NUS Hotlist

By Dan Whiteway
The National Union of Students (NUS) is planning a campaign to force individual prospective parliamentary candidates into opposing tuition fees by identifying areas where the student vote can make a key difference in this year’s General Election.

The NUS has pinpointed 20 towns and cities where a block vote from students can establish the winner of the election to have to pledge opposition to tuition fees.

The ‘hotlist’ of areas identified as key battlegrounds includes Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Sheffield. The campaign is the latest attempt by the NUS in their continued strident opposition to both tuition fee rises and tuition fees themselves since their introduction in 2004.
